L'Arche Canada's work touches many diverse areas, but is always inspired by the mission of L'Arche. We are proud of our achievements in working for a more inclusive society - in education, solidarity work, spreading the message of L'Arche and in supporting and growing the L'Arche homes and programs across Canada.

Achievements

L’Arche Canada makes its impact felt in a myriad of ways – through our almost 200 homes and programs; through our educational initiatives; through our efforts to transform the societal perspective of ‘disability’, and through our solidarity efforts for L’Arche in Latin America. At the heart of these is the continual emphasis on relationship and belonging that makes L’Arche so special and its message so powerful. We are deeply grateful to the many people who support the work of L’Arche in Canada.

Here are some examples of how L’Arche is growing. We hope you will find them as exciting as we do!

In March, L’Arche Carrefour, in Haiti, celebrated the opening of their new home. The solid, but temporary, structure is only the first phase in the project of rebuilding and re-envisioning L’Arche in Haiti. Many people across Canada made donations to support L’Arche Haiti following the earthquake that rocked the country in 2010. L’Arche Canada’s ongoing solidarity efforts with L’Arche in Haiti involve leadership support, visits to Haiti, and training and formation for members.

Aging and Disability

Life can be overwhelming for aging adults, especially those with disabilities, and their families and caregivers. This site offers wisdom and practical tools to face the challenge of aging with grace and dignity.

Making Governance Work

L’Arche Canada is served by two inter-related boards, L’Arche Canada and the L’Arche Canada Foundation.  They exist to oversee the operational and financial integrity of L’Arche throughout Canada.  The result is a simpler and more effective national support system.
