As we seek to eradicate diseases and particular conditions, new non invasive tests,  such as Maternity 21, open a new chapter in the history of prenatal testing.  Is it not the time to step back and ask ourselves important questions about the nature of our societies and those who live in it?  How do we value life? How do we understand the potential of people living with a disability? What is the value of diversity for our Canadian society? These questions are at the heart of the work and impact of L'Arche in Canada.
One of the little known but powerful dimensions of L’Arche is its impact on the women and men who spend time in a L’Arche community as assistants. L'Arche has shaped the personal and professional lives of thousands of young people who take learning and wisdom from L’Arche into all walks of life. A far-flung network carries L’Arche values into careers around the world.

Jean Vanier, humanist, philosopher, theologian, man of letters is first and foremost described by his companions as a man with heart, a man of compassion. Discover the wisdom of this surprising man.
