Bequest

For those who love the work and accomplishments of L’Arche and wish to contribute to our long term financial security consider creating a lasting legacy. Please consider leaving the L’Arche Canada Foundation/Fondation L’Arche Canada in your will. By making a bequest to L’Arche you will become a member of The Jean Vanier Society, the group of dedicated and caring Canadians who wish to bring security the L’Arche community across Canada for generations to come.

 

Options to Give a Legacy Gift

The most common option for a Legacy Gift is to give cash. It is also the easiest option. You simply write down the amount of the Legacy Gift in your will. Please see below a sample of wording you can give to your lawyer to include L’Arche in your will.

In addition to cash, you can also give stock, real estate, or other assets. We suggest you consult your lawyer if you prefer to bequeath a non-cash Legacy Gift.

 

If giving a percentage of your estate…

“I bequeath to the L’Arche Canada Foundation, having its principal offices at 10271 Yonge St. Suite 300, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3B5 ________% (percentage) of my estate, to be used for L’Arche Canada for its general charitable work and purposes.”

 

If giving a fixed amount …

“I bequeath to the L’Arche Canada Foundation, having its principal offices at 10271 Yonge St. Suite 300, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3B5 the sum of $________ (Dollars) from my estate to be used for L’Arche Canada for its general charitable work and purposes.”

 

If giving a residual part of the estate…

“I bequeath to the L’Arche Canada Foundation, having its principal offices at 10271 Yonge St. Suite 300, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3B5 ________% (percentage) of the rest and residue of my estate, to be used for L’Arche Canada for its general charitable work and purposes.”

 

When planning or writing a will, please contact an estate attorney who has experience in estate planning. You may also wish to discuss these issues with your family and seek counsel from your financial advisor.
